Jude: Contend for the Faith
D. J. Rowston says "The most neglected book in the New Testament is probably the Book of Jude." Although it is brief and even a bit unusual, it's message is needed today as much as ever. Jude is writing to a church or churches who have been infiltrated by people who claim to know Christ but reject His authority in a variety of ways. As a result, Jude writes this letter urging the church to fight for the faith (the one faith, the unchanging, once-for-all faith given to the saints) and to resist those who claim no connection between the Christ they profess and their conduct. As Thomas Schreiner has said, "The message of judgment is especially relevant to people today, for our churches are prone to sentimentality, suffer from moral breakdown, and too often fail to pronounce a definitive word of judgment because of an inadequate definition of love." The love of God that Christians encounter in Christ is so great that it changes our lives and our perspectives on just about everything. Join us this Sunday as we walk through the Book of Jude and learn how to fight the good fight for the faith once and for all delivered to the saints.
